I wake up at 6.30 AM, ensuring I have time to fit in my immense morning routine before recording a new episode of Culture Hang. After an intense battle with my self-worth, I emerge from my cocoon, ready to face the hectic day ahead of me.
Then I will check in on Holly, my co-host. I ensure she is awake and fulfilling her own extensive morning routine. We follow Gwyneth Paltrow, and we find it important to remind each other to complete our morning chants to GOOP. I’m a Scorpio so I crave chaos. Fortunately, Gwyneth helps me maintain order in my life.
After my 20-minute morning chant, I find that I am eager for a slice of toast and a browse on social media. However, I will only reward myself once I have truly tortured my body to the extreme. I blend a mixture of several vitamins, protein powder, and a Monster energy drink. It’s all very L.A.
Then I will head outside for my morning exercise. There are no good hiking trails near me so I usually just find the biggest hill I can and walk up it. It’s hard work but it’s worth it. While I hike, I like to listen to the Twilight soundtrack. More specifically, I will listen to ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ by Muse on repeat and picture myself in the Baseball scene. It inspires me.
By 9 AM, my smoothie has worn off and I’m ready for some substance. I have a small bowl of porridge covered by berries, Almonds, some more vitamins and protein powder. I also drink some Yorkshire Tea to show that fame has not completely gone to my head. I eat mostly plant-based but sometimes I look at a pizza and think, that’s the most beautiful thing ever.
After breakfast, I head to the shower and get dressed. I like to make an effort for the podcast. So instead of wearing the same clothes I’ve worn for the past 5 days, I change into something clean. Then I begin preparing for the podcast. I dream about ways that more people can hear me talk. I think about more opportunities for me and how I can create those roles. Occasionally my mind wanders to how I can help others, but I shift it right back to me. I am a big proponent of self-care.
Then I receive a skype call from Holly. We discuss our mornings with thinly veiled competitiveness over who’s porridge was the most nutrient-dense. Then we conclude the morning by recording our podcast and living the dream.
